If you’re passionate about numbers, markets, and the ideas that drive the world, this is your chance to test your talent, represent your school, and meet other young people who share your enthusiasm.
The Ecuadorian Science Olympiads Foundation (FOEC) invites all students from educational institutions across the country to take part in the National Economics, Finance and Business Olympiad – 2026 edition.
This annual competition seeks to stimulate economic and financial thinking among young people, promoting creative problem-solving and strengthening cooperation among students throughout Ecuador.
Objectives
- Discover, encourage, and recognize young people with exceptional talent in economics, finance, and business.
- Foster logical, critical thinking and the creative application of knowledge.
- Promote friendship, cooperation, and a spirit of healthy competition among participants.
- Drive the development of national, regional, and local competitions in these areas.
- Create spaces for exchanging experiences and knowledge.
- Promote economic and financial education in the country.
Levels of participation
The National Olympiad will have a single level of participation.
Students regularly enrolled at any educational institution, up to the 3rd year of “bachillerato” as of December 1, 2025, and who are under 20 years of age as of July 30 of the same year, may participate.
Competition formats
The competition is divided into three parts: Economics, Financial Education (both individual), and Business (by teams).
A team may have up to five members, including a leader.
Members may belong to the same institution or to different ones.
There is no limit on the number of teams or students per institution.
Academic content and syllabi
The competition includes multiple-choice questions and both qualitative and quantitative problems.
The Economics and Financial Education sections are individual, while the Business section is done in teams.

Competition format
The Olympiad includes 2 individual tests and 1 group test:
- Economics: 20 multiple-choice questions and 5 open-ended (4 are graded). Total time: 235 minutes.
- Financial Education: same structure and duration as Economics.
- Business: team competition with an oral presentation supported by slides, held over two days (preparation and presentation).
Grading Jury
The jury will be appointed by OLEEC’s Academic Department and will be made up of national and international specialists in economics and financial education. It will assign the grading panels and oversee the transparency and academic quality of the process.
Grading and results
The tests will be evaluated by panels appointed by the jury. Well-founded creative or alternative solutions will receive the maximum score and may be included in the official solutions document. Results will be available on our website at the end of the competition.
Prizes and recognition
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded for the best individual and team results, according to the criteria defined in the syllabus.
The jury may award Special Mentions for solutions that stand out for their originality. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
International competitions
The winners of the National Olympiad may join the teams that will represent Ecuador at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO).
The participant with the best overall score may obtain a scholarship to study at the National Research University – Higher School of Economics (HSE University).
The national teams and scholarships will be determined by the jury, taking performance and commitment into account. Training, travel, and international procedure costs are the responsibility of each participant.
Registration
You can register either individually or as a group:
- Individual Registration – each participant registers on their own.
- Group Registration – institutions that register several competitors.
Due to international regulations, participants must indicate their projected grade level as of December 1, 2025.
